Winkel 43 is an iconic Amsterdam eatery, situated on the always lively Noordermarkt in the Jordaan. A place where local residents, market visitors, and tourists come together for a good cup of coffee, a hearty lunch, or a pleasant drink on one of the sunniest terraces in the city. Where the first guests step in in the morning for our famous slice of apple pie and you can join in the evening for an approachable but flavourful meal from our monthly changing evening menu. Winkel 43 exudes warmth, hospitality, and authentic Amsterdam character.

As of 1 January, Winkel 43 will come under the management of Bartel and therefore we are looking for a driven Assistant Manager. In this role, you support the manager and work together with the team in the daily operation. You are the right hand on the floor: you ensure every shift runs smoothly, lead the team, and maintain the quality and hospitality for which Winkel 43 is known. You work closely with the management and have ample room to develop your leadership qualities and contribute to the next phase of our establishment.

Job Description 

  • Leading and guiding the team during your shift; 

  • Responsible for the smooth running of your shift; 

  • Coordinating reservations, inventory management, and scheduling; 

  • Responsible for an excellent guest experience and service; 

  • Point of contact for both guests and your team members; 

  • Daily responsibility for the quality and continuity of service; 

  • Proactively working with the manager on improvement points and innovations; 

  • Collaborating with your team to achieve goals and enhance the atmosphere; 

  • Performing administrative tasks; 

  • Ensuring compliance with HACCP hygiene requirements. 

Your Profile 

  • You always have a friendly attitude towards guests and staff; 

  • You have at least 2 years of work experience in the hospitality industry; 

  • You want to develop your leadership skills; 

  • You are pleasant to deal with and easily approachable; 

  • You have a strong sense of responsibility; 

  • You are proactive and solution-oriented; 

  • You enjoy working both during the day and in the evening; 

  • You are available on weekends.
