Winkel 43 is an iconic Amsterdam eatery located at the always bustling Noordermarkt in the Jordaan. A place where locals, market visitors, and tourists come together for a good cup of coffee, a hearty lunch, or a convivial drink on one of the sunniest terraces in Amsterdam. Where in the morning the first guests step in for our famous slice of apple pie and where we stand the rest of the day for accessible, tasty dishes with our own twist. As of January 1, Winkel 43 will be under the management of Bartel, and we are looking for a Chef who is ready to lead and further develop the kitchen. You will determine the course of our monthly changing lunch and dinner menu together with the management, steer the kitchen team, and ensure constant quality, even on the busiest market days. You have a keen eye for efficiency, love working with fresh products, and know how to create dishes with your creativity that fit the hospitality and accessibility of Winkel 43.

Job Description
  • Leading and directing your team;

  • Closely collaborating with the team and the manager(s) on the work floor;

  • (Final) responsibility for the kitchen's quality and consistency;

  • Coordinating and arranging work execution in the kitchen;

  • Keeping track of the purchase and stock in the kitchen;

  • Motivating, encouraging, and correcting staff when necessary;

  • Receiving and checking deliveries;

  • Final responsibility for keeping the work environment clean;

  • Responsibility for identifying peculiarities and shortcomings in the work environment;

  • Cost-conscious, effective, and efficient working;

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations;

  • Responsible for HACCP.

Who are you?
  • Proven management experience in the kitchen;

  • Available full-time (4-day workweek negotiable);

  • Affinity with French-Dutch cuisine, creative mindset;

  • Responds to trends in the current market;

  • Good communication skills;

  • You have a love for hospitality;

  • Positive attitude;

  • You are communicatively strong and ensure a pleasant working atmosphere;

  • You are a true team player;

  • SVH diploma;

  • Being a mentor is a plus, otherwise the desire to become a mentor.
